Let me start off by saying that I have had a life long fear of heights and extreme motion sickness. My now husband & I went to Maui to get married & enjoy the perfect honeymoon island & decided that a helicopter tour would be a once in a lifetime chance to see some scenery that we could only see by helicopter. I have read people say that Maui isn't particularly special for this kind of tour but I couldn't disagree more. Despite the fact that I felt like vomiting the entire time because of my motion sickness, it was still one of the most stunning & surreal experience!! Our pilot (wish I could remember his name correctly) was hilarious from start to finish & that alone distracted me from the fear/ sickness haha. It was smooth, beautiful & gave my Husband & I something special that we will remember forever & even got great pictures despite the glass and being in a moving helicopter. For us it was money & time well spent.

My sister and I went to Blue Hawaiian. Love this...I recommend this to anyone. We had Jason as our pilot and he was great. Told us right off that it was not a lecture and ask any question. We did the West Maui Tour and it was incredible. I cannot explain the peace I felt as we flew over the valleys. Take the time and do this trip. Also get the DVD...it is great memory of your flight..not a generic one...

Fantastic! We did the Maui Spectacular Tour with the landing and pleased with the trip would be an understatement. Our pilot, Glenda was the best! The helicopter was only 8 years old, in perfect condition, comfortable, A/C worked great and the best part, since the helicopter was designed and built specifically for Blue Hawaiian, the visibility was fantastic from every seat. Be sure to wear at least a dark shirt though so that your reflection in the windows don't hamper your ability to take pictures. It was quite windy the day we went but with Glenda at the controls, you couldn't tell it and it was an extremely comfortable ride. We WILL do it again on our next trip.

Glenda did a fantastic job showing us the sights and giving us insightful information. Flight was truly pleasant in all ways possible! Perfect way to begin a visit to Maui!

Definitely well worth the money! (just remember you are dealing with forces of nature from weather to lava flows not everything is under there control.). We took our two boys who we are adopting from out states foster program so this trip was a celebration. Tim our pilot made this experience great! The boys keep talking about while at school. Tim, thanks for making this experience the best! Oh. We did see lava!

I've been on helicopters on nearly all the Hawaiian Islands, and this was our first time on Blue Hawaiian and first time over Maui. Shortly after this flight I did a second flight over Maui with a company that offered 'doors off', because I'm a photographer and wanted to have the best images without shooting through glass. Some of you may be in that same situation. There are pros and cons of both, but Blue Hawaiian truly shines as one of the best experiences in the air. Their helicopters are modern, the headsets and music are great, the pilots are very tenured and experienced, and very accommodating to the needs of photographers (for example, allowing passengers on both sides of the aircraft an opportunity to see key sights). As it turns out, the photos I took on the Blue Hawaiian flight turned out better than the photos I took on my doors off flight. A little bit of that may have been the weather and the days I flew on. But I found the reflection through the glass to be much more minimal than I expected. And my pictures were sharp because there was no wind and much less vibration in the helicopter (doors off copters are older, more jerky and much much more window). I liked both experiences, but I was tremendously pleased with my experience with Blue Hawaiian. The pilot was a little chatty, there were times I would've liked to have the music and scenery speak for itself. But he was also informative and very friendly. I'd fly Blue Hawaiian again and can really recommend them. Photographers should consider wearing darker clothes to minimize at least your own reflection, and a 24-105 zoom lens was perfect. Didn't need a polarizing lens and I've read they don't work well through chopper glass. A friend brought a bigger zoom (70-200 range) and missed a lot of shots being too close up. And remember to take time to put the camera down and enjoy the moments of flying.

My husband and I did the Hana/Haleakala tour. It was fun, and super cool to see from the sky, but we would not recommend to others UNLESS you are not going to do the road to hana or go up to the top of haleakala. We did both and the helicopter tour. We just really did not see anything too different from the air than we saw from the ground, so it seemed to us like too much money for a 45 minute helicopter tour.

Noise canceling headphones, friendly pilot?..I felt safe even though I do not like heights

We opted for a better helicopter - the Ecostar - more legroom and better vision. Noise-cancelling headphones and a great pilot (Vince). Mornings are clearer.

We have always wanted to take a helicopter ride and when we decided to go to Hawaii, we saved and saved so our family of 4 could take one. I researched all of the helicopter companies and Blue Hawaiian consistently came out on top. We chose the Eco-star helicopter which costs a bit more, but is newer and really well designed to take in the view. We took this tour our first full day in Maui, and it gave us a great overview of some of the sights we would see during our stay. We opted for the Maui Spectacular, a 1 1/2 hour tour of the island of Maui. It covers the whole islands - we got a great view of Hana, took a peek at Haleakala crater and more. One of the best parts of this tour though, is that we got to land at a Ulupalakua Ranch on the side of Haleakala. We got out, and while we were admiring the view, our wonderful pilot Anna served champagne to the adults and punch to the kids. It was amazing and a great way to start our trip.

My Parents and my son had flown with Blue Hawaiian two years ago when they visited the big Island and they couldn't say enough about how great a trip it was. My wife and I just recently visited the Big Island and Oahu for our 20 year anniversary. We visited Volcano National Park and then took a helicopter ride over the same places with Blue Hawaiian. The ride was out of this world spectacular with views of the volcanos, coastlines, waterfalls and valleys. Noah our pilot gave us a superb ride! All throughout the ride he recieted facts about history of the island, it's geography, as well as having good conversation with everyone, all while piloting the helicopter safely. Noah turned the helicopter so you could view, take pictures, and video out of both sides clearly. Considering some of the air currents the ride was very smooth and the sun was out which gave us plenty of visibility. It was amazing all the different climates there are on the Big Island and we had a blast! I would fly with these guys again, especially with Noah ! The staff are all nice people and made the experience a pleasant one. The operation is professional and safe and well worth the cost of the ride. Consider them if you are ever on the Big island.

We wanted to see lava and just happened to drive by this impressive fleet of helicopters. It sounded like a great experience and well you only live once right? The staff planned out a morning drive for us - a short hike - directing us north to find scenery and Mother's day brunch. Shane was our pilot. He has a keen eye for lava - dolphins - and created an incredible adventure. This was our first helicopter experience - I can't wait to try this again. I can't imagine better service or scenery. There was one passenger who became nauseous, but continued on and felt better during the second half of the trip. She stated she had never had motion sickness before, but she had never been in a helicopter before either.

Family of five took the Maui Spectacular tour with Blue Hawaiian. Our pilot was Glinda. Great tour of the entire Island. The waterfalls around Hana and the Haleakala crater were really cool to see from the air. Kids rated this as their favorite activity of the trip!

We were afraid with my wife because of the high cost and the fact that we were travelling with our 8 months old child. The fact is that the trip is great, Rodger was a great and knowledgeable pilot and guide and the view of the volcanoes from the sky is spectacular. Our highest point of the vacations.

You will get to see things that you can't possibly see from land. The craters and the waterfalls. We could even see manta rays in the crystal clear water near one of the beaches. Beautiful! I definitely recommend the Eco-star helicopter (it's roomier and has bigger windows that the A-star). Also, the best tour to take is the West Maui and Moloka'i tour.
